Ottessa Moshfegh is a novelist, screenwriter and essayist from New England. Eileen, her first novel, was shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Man Booker Prize, and won the PEN/Hemingway Award for debut fiction. Her next three novels, My Year of Rest and Relaxation, Death in Her Hands, and Lapvona were all New York Times bestsellers. She is also the author of the short story collection Homesick for Another World, which was short-listed for the Story prize, and a novella, McGlue, winner of the Believer Book Award and the Fence Prize in Prose. She co-wrote the Academy Award-nominated film, Causeway, as well as the adaptation of her novel, Eileen, which was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards. She lives in southern California.
